Encouraged by a brief improvement in weather finally got b ack into mothing mode at weekend. Please can I have some help with a few? The first one is new to me. The second one looks familiar, I initially thought Scorched carpet, but markings not quite right.

Thanks Nige,
Good to be in touch again. Glad you are around to help me. Both of these new for my garden. Interesting the difference between male and female Muslin Moths.

Thanks Nige, Good to be in touch again. Glad you are around to help me. Both of these new for my garden. Interesting the difference between male and female Muslin Moths. Glad to be back, and glad the lepidoptera has finally picked up! Still learning lots about the moths myself, but slowly getting there. Others in the same family as Muslin, like White and Buff Ermines both differ in colour between sexes. Nige

The trouble is - I get interested in other things. Apart from moths - bees and hoverflies in particular - but there are so many interesting insects.
But, as you say, the moths are picking up (less so the butterflies I think). My garden moth species list has reached 170 and my aim is to get it over 200.
