Has anyone any idea whether this is a White-lipped Snail ( Capaea hortensis) or a Brown-lipped Snail ( Capaea nemoralis) ? Thanks Dave

After trawling through mountains of pictures, species accounts, etc. I've come to the conclusion that it's hortensis.
If anyone disagrees with me, please let me know!

I'm not very good at snail identification, (the only one I'm ever sure of are the Roman snails, which I've seen twice) but it's a nice photo.

I'd go with hortensis too but I've never managed yet to find a Brown-lipped Snail in my garden for comparison.

Thanks both Rowanberry & Alf1951,
Like Rowanberry, I'm not very good with snails. In fact I'm not very good with any invertebrates, but I'm in the process of making a determined effort to get better.
I've recently taken an interest in the Diptera, and I'm finding them a total minefield, as the only way to get to a reasonably accurate i.d. is to put them under a microscope and examine or dissect their 'naughty bits', and this is something I'm not willing to do on ethical grounds for the sake of a 'casual' interest!
As with you 'Alf', I've never yet managed to find a brown-lipped snail in my garden for comparison purposes, although I had hoped that this was the occasion. Just have to keep looking I suppose!
