There was a squirrel out in the garden early this morning, behaving very oddly. It tried several times to climb the feeding station pole, without success. Then, it attempted to climb the tree beside the feeding station... it would get about two feet up off the ground and then sort of back-flip off. It did this several times, and then did a few more back-flips on the grass- sort of little contorted leaps in the air. I went out, to see if I could get a closer look at it and it scampered, (and not very quickly- if the fox had been there, it would have been his lucky day!) towards the wooden fence at the bottom of the garden...started to climb it and FELL OFF. I have never seen a squirrel do that...if it was autumn I would have thought it had been into some rotten apples and was a bit tipsy. Since the odds are it couldn't have been at the cider this time of year, could this possibly be due to some kind of neurological disease?
