Hi Folks, Dan aka Dogghound here, (hated that username but its my alias now I guess). Great to see so many familiar names have made it back together on what looks like a great new forum. Learned so much from WAB & its WABBERS so its great to be able to hook up again.
All the best Dan.

It's great to see you here Dan. I was "Deb London" on WAB, and you helped me out a lot with IDs and newt structures and all sorts of good advice.
I guess this forum is slowly building up now, to act like WAB once did. Hopefully.

Hi,
Another ex WABBER here. Glad to find somebody has taken up the gauntlet in trying to continue where WAB left off. I wish you all the best of fortune.

Have spread the word of this forum to Dave P., Neil (UKwildlifeo), John (Woodman) and a few others so might be worth spreading the word to other WABBER's if any of you have their details, although unfortunately many wont be contactable.

That would be great, thanks Dan. Unfortunately I didn't have anyone's email addresses when WaB disappeared, (it seemed so implausible that such a large, long-runninge site COULD disappear...just goes to show, I guess) so it's only been by hit-or-miss luck that I was even able to find Deb and the WaB Castaways via the Canon Photography forum. There might be other ex-members on Facebook, but unless they have the same user name that they did at WaB I wouldn't know how to track anyone down.
There were several regional meetup groups, weren't there? Perhaps some of those members are still in touch with each other.

People might find the site by googling "wild about Britain" if that could somehow be incorporated in search terms. I am not sure about whether or what relating to this site is picked up on google yet - I tried to find it unsuccessfully and had to ask for a link. But I guess other people are finding it. There are definitely a couple of WAB experts I would love to see join this forum.

Another WAB drifter here. I was as taken aback by the closure of WAB, such a shame. Anyhow some familiar names and a new forum. Let the community shine folks

Many fungi and lichen experts joined another forum (UK Fungi I think its called). That's certainly worth a look if you have a fungi question.
I have a small database on WAB Castaways (Facebook) with internet resources and other forums (I will add WABI to it this evening). Any ex-WABber is welcome to join the group.
The closure of WAB was terribly sad, I agree. Although most/all of us were WABbers, there does not seem to be one current forum or group that suits all. We just have to make a go of forums like this one or groups like Castaways. Hopefully most ex-WABbers will group together in one location or another, and a subset will belong to more than one. In that way we can loosely stay together and be more resilient if a problem happens at one site.

Tried again.
