I have another issue now. My emails are getting filled with WAB notifications. 6-8 a day. All the same notification re a posting of a moth photograph by a member. Against my better judgement I went onto the site and logged in. I cannot get to my profile nor am I able to change my notification preferances That's odd, that shouldn't be happening. Can you unsubscribe to the notification itself? There should be a link at the bottom of the email.

The link at the bottom of the emails takes you to WaB where a message pops up saying "Script Malformed Notify Administrator". A Castaway very kindly had a go and in case anyone else is interested here is what you do - having gone through the performance of logging in, go down to the bottom of the screen where it says who is on line, click on your name there and it will take you to your profile and preferences.

There still seems to be a few buggy tings with it, like not having an obvious login box etc Think I'll leave off for now Nige

oh, I go to "New Community Posts" on the lower right hand side, pick a post and the logon comes up, which allows me in. That error looks a bit like the old one we used to get doesn't it? I use Mozilla Firefox.

Strange.....
Earlier this morning I successfully logged into WAB and posted a couple of comments. Then I browsed around the site and then headed off to other pastures. Bu when I tried to see if anyone had commented on my comments there was no access. So I've tried assorted access methods - Chrome, Firefox, Waterfox, IE8, Edge and Safari (I had nothing better to do for a while!!) through three different systems and had no luck at all.
Currently the site search comes up as: Database error The database has encountered a problem.
Clicking on the web address gives me: Error The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later. Error message PDOException: SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in lock_may_be_available() (line 167 of /home/wildabou/public_html/includes/lock.inc).
I'll give them another 48 hours and then perhaps call it quits. Irritating.

I haven't had any problems until today, but I think Stu said that the site wouldn't be up and running properly for some time, so maybe they still have lots to do yet.

I'm getting the error page tonight as well. Perhaps they are working on it, but it's been down for about 24 hours again.

Just an update with what little I know.
The other day when my I tried to send an email to WAB to see if they'd be good enough to put me in the picture and although my email was sent, it would appear there is a problem with it being received. "Delay reason: SMTP error from remote mail server after RCPT TO:<wildaboutbritain@googlemail.com>: 450-4.2.1 The user you are trying to contact is receiving mail at a rate that prevents additional messages from being delivered. Please resend your message at a later time. If the user is able to receive mail at that time, your message will be delivered."
In other words, don't bother!
On the strength of everything we've all found so far, I'm removing WAB from my favourites and will assume that it's dead and buried. RIP
Chris

Hi folks. I recently joined and am somewhat out of the loop-sorry is there a short version of all this? I was looking for WAB and found this one, so joined. Somebody mentioned WAB to me a year ago, so I looked for it then but it seemed to be facebook only, which I am nervous of. If this is any kind of touchy subject I guess it doesn't really matter, I'm just a little bemused! Regards, Ed.

Hi Treehugger.
If you've read through this thread you will see that, after a serious "hacking" attack, WAB has never recovered and effectively does not exist anymore (although I would like to think it will be revived at some future time) - this forum was created to partly replace WAB but doesn't have the capacity to create the gallery WAB provided. Like you, I'm facebook phobic but stick around - you may find what you're looking for here!

Ta for the info. I found a wildflower forum yesterday and applied to join. Just checked my emails, and there is nothing from them with a link to join! So how are folk supposed to join? Odd. Anyway I look forward to boring folk with amateurish flower pics!
