At Hickling lots of Buttonweed around some pools, most Climbing Corydalis I've ever seen, single plants of Meadow Thistle + Corn Marigold + Ragged Robin.

Also this which I think is Bugle... Nige, I think that second plant of yours with the blue flowers might be Brooklime (veronica Beccabunga). I have something similar growing in my pond, but I could be mistaken!

...has to be the elder in my garden which has started blooming this week... it smells heavenly, and the blossoms almost seemed to glow in the setting sunlight.

Think you're inventing names for thistles Nige? What's a field thistle? Anyway yours is a Spear Thistle, Cirsium vulgare

I was going by one I saw on Google images. According to Wikipedia (which we all know is 100% true )Field Thistle is another name for Creeping Thistle. That's my excuse anyway Thanks aeshna. Nige

I did wonder whether field thistle might be a country name for Creeping Thistle, but certainly not one I've seen in the field guides.
For me today Little Robin + Common Broomrape on an industrial estate in Southall.

Agree Ox-eye Daisies are stunners. So many on roadsides as I travel about at the moment. A few in the garden too.
For yesterday my flowers of the day were some really deep maroon Opium Poppies and also Field Poppies on disturbed ground on my local patch.

There are loads of Ox-eye Daisies along the roadsides in the Huntingdon area where I work. My FotD is Southern Marsh Orchid, at the Titchwell Marsh RSPB reserve in Norfolk. A clump of naturalised Iris orientalis at the Gunnersbury Triangle yesterday, a plant that seems to crop up in a few places in the London area.
