Since yesterday afternoon we, in Gloucester, have had 15mm of beautiful rain with more to come. My garden has a lot of clay content and due to lack of rain and the baking sun I was going to need dynamite to break it up. Spades and forks just bounced of the surface. Another few days of good steady rain and I should be able to start digging and preparing for the Autumn and Winter.

Lots of lovely rain, for most of the day. The cooler temps were very welcome as well... the grass is already greener, and the trees look so much better after drooping and shedding leaves too early.

15C wind ENE light rain - still! Can't help noticing that the flora seems to have got out of kilter as to when to bloom, for instance the Ling has at last started to bloom on the hills, the Erica bloomed early and is going over, The Rosebay Willow Herb come out in in great swathes and also most immediately went to seed, now is growing again. Unfortunately our rowan trees started to fruit then dropped the lot. Oddly the Gorse decided not to bloom - has the kissing stopped?

Steady and persistent rain all day- ranging between quite heavy and drizzling. Much cooler temps, too- quite chilly, and I'm sitting here wearing a jumper for the first time in months.

Guess what? it is raining - storm proportion last night, got worried by the heavy wind whipping the trees and plants around. The Strath has its own ecosystem, which is well known. You can got outwith the area be in at least good weather and as you approach from either Tyndrum or Crianlarich you can see the rain clouds. My cousins who have drive from Dundee up to Caradale, for at lest twenty years, for their holiday(NW) have places they mark as 1/4 the way 1/2 the way etc., and say "Crianlarch - see it is raining:)" as in fact we do as well.

N. Cumbria - Incredibly variable weather lately with spells of torrential rain and/or strong winds and the odd glimpse of sunshine. Currently overcast, 12C, light southerly breeze with occasional strong gusts.

We were only on the edge of Storm Ali but it was still a bit breezy. Hope everyone further south is OK. Here is a shot this afternoon on a local beach. Dave

Chilly start to the day down here in London, (about 8c... the heating came on for the first time since last winter) but clear blue skies and a promise from the BBC of a sunny day.

It started out nicely, with the moon setting against clear blue skies.
By early afternoon the clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped... quite chilly now, and completely overcast.
