I'd be happy to contribute but preferably on a yearly basis.

What Snowlynx and I are going to try doing is to gradually transfer our uploaded photos over to a flickr account, which will reduce the storage size being used up, (I understand that not everyone wants to do this, so hopefully we'll be able to avoid all members being made to open up yet another account!) Also, I don't want people to feel pressurised into making donations, too, (and I'm rubbish at account-keeping... the thoughts of trying to keep payments to Wabi tallying with payments to ProBoards storage fees...!!! Nooooooo- flashbacks to maths class. I'll have nightmares, honestly.) Moving my images over to Flickr ought to keep it under control for a while, because I've uploaded quite a few since Wabi started.

Flickr image are time limited too, I just looked at the Flickr account I opened when I was at night school last year, it's already been 'closed' (deleted) by Flickr. By all means use it, but don't expect it to last long.. Is it OK to post links to my own website (On my own server) for images I'd like to share? Graham

Yes, that would be fine Graham. It seems that Flickr have recently changed their storage limits, and now, (from what I could find out via Google searches) we are able to upload as many photos as needed. I think if they believe an account to be no longer in use they will make it inactive, though.

would it work if you set up a WABI flickr account and posted the login details as a sticky, so we could all use it?
Don't use Flickr myself . . .

Sorry folks, but out of necessity, we are going to start limiting image attachments to 2 per post in an effort to stay within our storage limits.

Not sure if you saw my post in the other thread from earlier:
Would you guys consider a few of us chipping in to pay for some storage space? That might make the site more attractive if we can setup a gallery.

Nige That's an idea that we have thought about, htcdude, but unfortunately, buying more storage space won't help much... it just delays the moment when we exceed our quota. We are instead tackling the problem by transferring image attachments across to a Wabi Flickr account. Flickr offers 1TB of data:-)

That's good if the flickr method is working seemlessly to the users. What is the workload at your end to do this, man-hours per week - how automated is it? d

About an hour a month seems to be enough. It is completely automated once I find the posts with image attachments.

I am not very technical and this may be a silly question, but could WABI members join the group if they wanted to and upload their photos straight to it to save you time? Shirl
Apologies, just noticed Teasel suggesting just that!

Thanks ashgale, we just never thought of that! Of course, it all depends on there being reliable, free forum software we could have installed. Oh well, it's all too late now, since this forum doesn't allow data exports. It would mean starting all over again. Also, when we found the current solution, we just didn't realize there was an attachment limit until too late.

I have a question regarding posting photos, is it still alright if I carry on posting my photos in the same way? call me old fashion but I do not wish to give my phone number out to a third party (Flickr) or a email address if this is required.
Regards Alan

Alan, for the time being this is OK. We seem to be managing the current rate of new image attachments. I run a semi-automatic script occasionally that transfers them across to the Flickr Wabi Gallery that you can access here www.flickr.com/photos/133782128@N02/albums .
