Lovely to have a close Marsh Frog watching me from one of the pools at Benfleet this afternoon.

At Chobham Common today spotted a Common Lizard disappear into the grass & as I was heading back along the track I was aware of a movement very close to my foot. As I looked down, I'd literally just missed treading on a male Adder-possibly one of last years at no more than a foot long. It wasn't aggressive & initially stayed put. After taking a couple of shots it decided it had had enough & slithered off. A close call for both of us!

Another day in a different habitat, but another welcome view of a Common Lizard.

Saw the most well-fed frog I've ever seen today in the pond. Surely there wouldn't be any spawning going on this time of the year, would there? Either that, or someone has most definitely eaten all the pies. Frog Sept 2021 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

A distant basking terrapin (probably Red-eared) & a Common Frog in the undergrowth.

At least 15 terrapins basking over 3 rafts- at least some of them seemed to be Yellow-bellied Sliders.

Plenty of Marsh Frog action at Rainham today & one showing well as it croaked. They need to watch out as the numerous egret species & Herons find them very tasty!

A couple of Common Toads at Titchwell-one by the visitor centre & another on the main path. We did also see a young unidentied newt near Snettisham.

The young froglets have all left the pond now, but I do still see the occasional one hoping about. I very nearly trod on one this morning while filling the bird feeders.

Counted 5 frogs just out or just preparing to get out of the pond last night ian Lucky you... surprised you could see a shooting star with the bright moon. I used to have a 60mm altazimuth refractor, but only have my camera zoom now. What scope do you have?

Hi snowlynx our house sits in a circle of properties and I sit with my back to ours facing east, we get a good amount of screening from the street lights by the other houses gives me a good amount of quite dark sky directly overhead. The shooting star was early between 7 and 8 and straight up above can't say I noticed the moon must have been behind the houses still. I only have my birding scope 16x48x68 As for the frogs I have to smile when I see the number visiting our small pond and wonder how all the spawn will fit in plus I'm expecting a few toads too ian

First newt of the year has just appeared in my pond. Which is great as I have just refilled it after a major refurbishment. Still to finish planting it out.
Harold.
