I went out for a few hours as I wanted to see the Penduline Tits in Gloucester. All my mates had seen them so as it was such a nice day I thought why not. There were two there but I could only find one of them. Still the one I saw showed well, albeit too far away for a photo. There had been a very long staying Black Redstart in Sharpness. This has been my bogie bird over the last few years so I went for it. This bird has to be the easiest Black Redstart I have ever seen as it was on a fence at the side of my car as I parked up. 140. 117 Great Grey Shrike
At last, I dipped on this last winter despite probably twenty attempts at the different local birds and it's taken about another dozen attempts to be lucky this winter.
I'm not chasing them any more in the future, it's usually easier to find them when you're not looking for them.
