A new UK sighting for me today- a Mediterranean nettle, Urtica pilulifera, growing as a casual. There have been a few London records of this now. I have seen it overseas but not here.

First Fragrant Marsh Orchids just starting to open out, great really as the other three species on the same bit of ground are just about past their best.

Today in a dried out (normally damp) area of meadow my first Common Fleabane + Sneezewort.

Pyramidal Orchid in the garden today, all the Common Spotteds and Common Twayblades are dying back a little now so this brought a good splash of colour to the lawn.

Plenty of colour at Chobham today with vibrant Bell Heather as well as less showy Cross-leaved Heath + Ling punctuated with Dwarf Gorse.
My highlight though was in flower. In one small boggy area were 2 species of Pitcher Plant- Sarracenia flava + S. purpurea. I was shown them about 20 years ago but the first time I've found them for myself. They don't seem invasive + made an interesting addition, surrounded by native sundews.

Finally after a few weeks I managed to get out for a lunchtime walk. Found some Wild Marjoram (I think!) and Common Fleabane which I've now added to my Wilts list Nige fleabane by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr wild majoram by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

You're right with the fleabane but certainly no marjoram there! Second photo looks more like Corn Mint.
