I went to Great Kimble, Bucks., this morning, where I was totally unsuccessful in finding the Musk Orchids that I've seen there once or twice before (I met another orchid enthusiast there, who told me that when he first visited the site 40 years ago there were about 60 Musk Orchids there!). However I did spot my first Bee Orchids of the year, so that's my FotD: I then went to College Lake nature reserve - I expected to see more Bee Orchids there, but was staggered by just how many there were. I must have seen at least 100, and one of the best places to see them was juat 100-200 yards left from the Visitor Centre. Biting Stonecrop and Common Centaury were 'firsts' for the year, too. Today my FOTD were the large numbers of perfect Pyramidal Orchids at Denbies + about 10 Bee Orchids looking good. The many Fragrant Orchids were past their best.
Other highlights were Sqinancywort, some of the largest Yellow-wort I've seen, Common Centaury, Thyme, masses of Rock Rose, Quaking Grass + Clustered Bellflower.

Lots of Lady's + Hedge Bedstraw together in some local meadows today looking good but no sign of the hybrid between them.
Much scarcer but not very showy I found a couple of umbels of Pepper Saxifrage.

My FOTD was thousands of Common Spotted Orchids on a nearby moor, best show ever! The Bee Orchids are not quite ready yet, just an odd flower at the moment.
