Nothing so spectacular round here but this morning's sky was beautiful - shame the photo doesn't do it justice!

Some more lovely shots on here, I see. This is a bit of a cheat from yesterday as it isn't a sunrise or sunset, though it wasn't that far into the day. Loch Bad na Sgalaig and Baosbheinn. Dave

Dave A nice shot anyway, despite there being no sunrise/set: but harking back to another of your pics in- wildaboutthebritishisles.uk/thread/922/orion-puzzle-solved - I can't help noticing there is some sort of colour flare in the same corner of the reflection pic.

Well spotted, I should have seen that. The sun was just out of shot to the upper left and I have to come even cleaner about this shot now. I did not plan it at all. The road close to the loch is being upgraded and rerouted and I was waiting for the temporary traffic control to change from 'STOP' to 'GO'. I could see things were going to change soon and as I wrestled the camera out its bag, the lens hood fell off, which could have been the cause of the flare.

........but thinking about it some more, one orientation is portrait and the other is landscape, so it's not actually the same corner of the sensor.

Being in a valley I don't often get a good view of a sunrise or sunset at this time of year without a race up a hill. Even so this was the view to the NW last night... and this was just before dawn this morning... Alf

Lovely photos Alf. I have the same here, the sun sets behind the hill I am on which is 652m high. And at this time of year the sunrise just lights up the hills(Munros) to which I am blessed to look out on. Do get beautiful skies though. Later in the year the sun comes up between two of the mountains which is gorgeous.

After a glorious day, bit of cloud started rolling in but lit by the sun setting behind Fiarach and Ben Oss to wards the North West and reflecting in the clouds over Ben More to the South East

It always fascinates me how the setting sun in the west reflects on the hills in the east. Last night I thought it was lovely especially with the different coloured clouds -
