Why do Small Skippers and Essex Skippers always pose with their backs towards you? My sight is not good enough to identify on wing, so I rely on getting a photo but typically none show underside of antennae clearly. This is the same skipper and I keep changing my mind about which I think it is. Can you help with your better experience?

Not the easiest of images but I would say Small Skipper. Though the antennae look blackish above the undersides appear lighter + not the really black I would associate with Essex Skipper.

I thought Essex Skipper usually has quite a jet black tip, so would've said Small too, unless this is just a faded-tipped one??
