Don't think it's Coltsfoot- have never seen it growing in such dense clusters before. I think I agree Aeshna. It seemed to be the main plant, along with the yellow iris, that was growing along the base of the valley, certainly as far as I could up and down the valley and it was very dense. It also seemed to me to be nearest to the deeper water, with the yellow iris basically behind it, then up slope the grasses and trees. I have Coltsfoot. Growing in 'my patch at home' but only 2 or 3 and they are not near each other.
