Sorry I took so long to thank you for your rose, John – I have been away on holiday – but it is much appreciated. I am afraid I am not very used to forums, but I will try to improve!

Sorry I took so long to thank you for your rose, John – I have been away on holiday – but it is much appreciated. I am afraid I am not very used to forums, but I will try to improve! Hi, good to have you back, hope your holiday was nice. We all need to get used to these 'new fangled' communication methods Faith, it's difficult to express (and of course to recognize too) nuances etc in text, but we all muddle along together I think. Just do what we all do - the best you can. You're clearly as pleasant & friendly as any of us are, and very knowledgeable too! You're an asset here Faith, as far as I'm concerned. 'Storms in teacups' abound in life, here as everywhere - but we all love our wildflowers! p.s glad you like the rose - I love the yellow ones.

I did try to create a new thread as suggested, but after having written it all out, it disappeared without trace, so clearly I still haven't got the hang of it!

I did try to create a new thread as suggested, but after having written it all out, it disappeared without trace, so clearly I still haven't got the hang of it! Hi Faith, oops! I've done that loads of times and there's a small thing you may try, use the <-- button on your browser to simply move back to previous pages, you'll very likely find your intended post waiting there for you still! Sounds too simple to be true but it works. Also, when you've typed a lot in and really don't want to lose all the effort - use your browser's ability (I'm using Chrome on a Windows 7 laptop - nothing fancy) to duplicate tabs, leave the duplicate tab on your tabs-bar and carry on. Alternatively, if I'm typing in a 'big-un' I periodically 'select' all my text (it turns blue) and 'copy' it (it'll go to the unseen clipboard and will be available for any subsequent 'paste' operation, even into a blank text-file if need be).. These all work in one situation or another - I found these little possibilities by suffering the same frustrating losses you have! Hope this helps a bit - get posting!

Thanks John, but that's not exactly what I mean. I got a text box from 'Create thread', typed in some stuff, added some pics, then clicked on 'create thread'. That's when it disappeared and it wasn't on any previous pages or anywhere to be found. So I tried again, with just a sample of a few words, and this time clicked on 'Preview', only to be told 'this has no effect' or something like that. So it's something I'm doing wrong on the website itself, This is a Mac, by the way, so a bit different from Windows. I will write it out again, this time in a Word doc that I can hopefully paste in in case anything goes wrong.

Are you definitely logged-in to this site and not 'just visiting' when this happens, another thing that I've had happen when attempting to post... Maybe worth a try.
