They look fine specimens Pete- no doubt primed for the rut. Yes, the one in the second photo was making a lot of noise and had several females and a few younger bucks around him. On my walk I heard another three bucks roaring or bellowing, too.

Oink, oink - actually they sounded more like a hybrid of a dog/hedgehog. They are let out in the NF for a couple of months in the Autumn to clear up acorns which are poisonous to horses and cattle (if they were to eat sufficient quantity) it's known as Pannage. These are only little ones, I'll keep an eye out for some larger ones, but I may not get quite as close.

Excellent views of 2 Foxes in the back garden about 4 this afternoon. I have been hearing them most nights recently but my best view. One was initially grooming. I think it may be a vixen + a grown up cub. Below the bedroom window is a bench with an improvised aquarium I had some frog spawn in away from the pond. The Fox seemed interested in something there + grabbed a smallish bird. There had been a poorly Greenfinch earlier so I suspect it was this as a healthy bird would have got away. I'm relieved in a way as I was concerned about it + have scrubbed all the feeders + all the other birds seem healthy. The Fox temporarily half-buried this in a pot before retrieving it again.

Got all excited looking through video cam this morning - thought I had caught a wild cat. Think it s more likely a cross feral/wild cat but might mean there is a wild cat about somewhere up in the forests. Cat by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr

The fox wanted to have a nap in the garden this morning, but the jays flying back and forth onto their table proved to be too interesting.

3 absolutely stunning female Roe Deer at the local water park this morning, don't think they knew I was there as they crossed the lane, excellent views through the scope, can't wait to get my digiscoping bits!

Lovely fox on our walk this morning heading towards the shoreline at Carsington Water - the wading birds disappeared rather quickly!

Caught on trail camera. 2 ferals, 3 pine martens, 1 badger, 1 fox, 3 jays and 2 crows - all between 1.30 - 3.00 am. Animals must be very hungry as it was blowing a gale and heavy rain.

Cheating here really as it wasn't around the UK or even nearby but as it's on the British list I'd nominate my first ever Blue Whale last week in the Indian Ocean off Sri Lanka. Truly awesome experience. Also saw other cetaceans new to me too including Bryde's whale + Spinner Dolphins.
Great wildlife on the land too but as not UK species won't say too much.
