Hey guys,
I wondered if anyone knew if there were any places in Cornwall to see Little Owls? It’s a bird I’ve still never seen and one I’d love to photograph.

Tom- hello and welcome to Wabi!
I'm not sure if we have any members based in Cornwall... if so, hopefully someone might be able to answer your query about little owls.

Hi Tom, I am in the middle of little owl study at the moment and traveling up and down the country being just back for a couple of days before I set of again, however Cornwall is a ‘very poorly populated area’ for this bird. I do have one pair breeding there on a private estate but all the locations I visit I keep secret, otherwise these sites tend to get bombarded with photographers much to the annoyance of the owners. Indeed I am constantly bothered by dog walkers, birders, and general hooligans not to mention fly tippers who are under the impression they can do as they please. However I would say your best bet would be to join a local bird club in the hope they may help you, I could point you to the genial area in Cornwall but fear even this would be irresponsible of me given my past experiences in this matter.
Nonetheless there are professionals who have hides already set up for photographers at so much a day, so you could go down this route, not sure if there are any in Cornwall but some how I very much doubt it given the little owl population in Cornwall being just a few pairs

Hi there, thanks to rowanberry for the welcome.
And thanks to you Alan for your thoughtful response. I knew from looking at the sightings for Cornwall that they don’t seem to be very prevalent around these parts. I quite understand about not wanting to give any details, the last thing I would want to do would be to jeopardise their nesting. I may look into one of the hide sessions as I didn’t realise there were sessions specifically for Little Owls.
