Hi, welcome! Have you read the thread in "Technical Issues" about attachments? That may help

Thanks Teasel. Yes, have read the advice. I want to upload from my laptop and have been trying to add an attachment to my posts, however I get a message that the capacity of the site has been exceeded and that the filw cannot be uploaded. It is a small .jpeg file. Can't see any other way to upload photos from my laptop except "upload attachments", is that correct?
There does not appear to be an "upload images" section as there was on WAB?

Hi Ian if you read some of the other threads in "Technical Issues" you'll see this site is not set up like WAB. It was set up as an emergency, temporary refuge for ex Wabbers but has survived! Photos have always been "different" as there is a size limit on the site. This thread may explain better. wildaboutthebritishisles.uk/thread/1520/latest-on-attachmentsAs I understand it, Rowanberry has to physically move images to a WABI Flikr account so we do not exceed the maximum. If she has just done that, there is room. Otherwise, there is not. That is why many people have set up their own Flikr accounts just to post images here. We are used to it but it can seem a bit idiosyncratic to new people, who can be put off by it. Hope you stick with us

Thanks, Teasel.
That's right, IanF... when we first started Wabi (three years ago this month!) it was meant to be only a temporary tide-over until Wab was back up and running after they were hacked.
Since the quickest and easiest way to do that was to use a free forum-hosting site like ProBoards (I am not techie in any way) which has a very limited storage capacity for images. Needless to say, being a wildlife forum it didn't take long to go over our limited.
In the beginning I tried downloading the photos onto my own computer and moving them over to a Flickr account, but it was taking me up to an hour almost every day to do that... in the end I had to ask everyone to set up their own Flickr account and upload images that way, (since the image is just a link, we don't go over our limit that way.) Plus, this way I don't worry about being responsible for the safe-guarding of everyone's photos- if Wab stays down for a long time again their entire gallery has vanished, which is a terrible shame.
Wab was down for over a year before they were back up and running the last time, and so some of us who used Wabi regularly decided to stay here instead- we might be only a small group compared to the larger membership base at Wab, but we are a friendly bunch! I hope you decide to stay with us; once you get used to uploading images using Flickr it's not too difficult!
