Spotted these while out with the dog this morning. There were about 10 to 12 plants varying in height from about 60cm to over 2.5m. I thought they might be Giant Hogweed but having looked on line I am not at all sure. They are growing in an area of rough grass. Where they are not damp bu they are on the edge of an area can get waterlogged in wet weather.

I think the leaves are wrong for giant hogweed, if the stems have red spots and dashes and the plant smells like the bottom of a mouse cage then it's hemlock PS don't eat it ian

It's Hemlock, Conium maculatum- pretty poisonous!

On the old rail line I walk, part of it last year was absolutely full of hemlock for yards and yards the smell was quite overpowering ian
