I hope you won't mind if I mention a new book I have out – well, it's just a booklet really. It's called 'Start to Identify Grasses' and it was when I found myself using an acronym for it that I remembered Stig of the Dump, and that's how I came to post this! Like the other books, this is thoroughly basic botany, for people (I used to be one) who want to go and hide under the bed if challenged to identify a grass. The idea is to get to know just a few very common grasses, so you can carry on from there at your own pace. You can get the booklet in places like NHBS and Summerfield Books, but the cheapest place to get it is my website Wildflower Study.

That looks very informative, Faith- I have to admit, grasses are one thing I've never considered learning about so I'm woefully uniformed about them.
Thanks for posting a link to that.

Thanks Faith. I have sent for it. Stig of the Dump! That takes me back, he along with Lancaster Lad and CM Gave me endless help with suggestions of grass for the rock/peat areas and the boggy land and where to get the seeds when I was re-planting a massive area that had been dug up for drainage. seems years ago now. Of course in those days you helped me a lot with wild flower IDs too.
