Can anyone confirm if this is Dicranopalpus ramosus? It spent all day today stretched out on a wall until I started to take pics - then it took off! Opilione 01 by Alf Parker, on Flickr DSCF77881 by Alf Parker, on Flickr Alf

Thanks for the confirmation. I gather they are relatively recent arrivals here from Morocco!

No, it's another more common type of harvestman.

Are those your raspberries, Helen? They look nice and healthy!

Hard to tell without a close-up but your harvestman could be Opilio Canestrini Alf

Here is a close up Alf. The photos were taken 3 years ago (a very bad year for me) and I have only just got around to Naming some of the wildlife I photographed but could not ID at the time. Which is why I was pleased to your photo.
Rowanberry - it was a good year for fruit there were masses of lovely wild raspberries and bilberries - neither seem to have done well since.

Looks like Mitopus morio, but not an expert on this group.

I don't recognise it either but there is an image of an identical opilone on www.bumblebee.org/invertebrates/Opilones.htm might be worth starting there for an ID. Shame - we used to have an expert on these who used the old WAB site.

It does look like Mitopus morio, but looks a bit paler. I found this site interesting with enormous amount of information etc and, when I have a bit more time will see about recording. From what I have gathered so far is the environment seems right - wetland, grouse moors, woodland in other words damp places.
