I've been finding these in the garden for a few weeks - usually 2 or 3 at a time. I initially blamed a neighbour's cat but closer inspection suggests remains of beetle carapace so I'm sure it must be hedgehog - something I rarely saw at our old address. The poos are black, shiny (but then it rains a lot here!) no more than 1cm thick and length 4 - 8cm long. Our boundaries are intentionally porous to allow wildlife easy access. Anyone able to confirm? scat by Alf Parker, on Flickr Thanks Alf

Fairly sure it is hedgehog too as I did see the exactly same thing in a freshly cut corn field back in August, fresh and squishy too as I had a play with the said item. As I found it in the corn field I assumed it was making its way from the field margin to a small plantation in the field.
