Hello, Skywatcher, and welcome to Wabi!
Unfortunately, this forum has very limited attachment storage space- and it didn't take us very long to fill it up when we first set it up. We did look into paying for extra space, but this would not have bought us very much- and it is expensive! The only way this would have worked would have been if I had then gone into older posts and deleted the photos. In the case of threads where an id has been asked for, or information given it would have damaged those posts for anyone referring to them so I didn't think that was a good idea.
I used to sit down several times a week and move all attachments and photos over to a Flickr account we set up in an attempt to keep some space available... and we also asked members to open Flickr or Photobucket accounts of their own so they could link images to their posts that way.
Recently I've been having problems with my eyes, (been referred to Morefields hospital again this week) and I've just not been able to keep up with moving all the images. I can't spend too much time on the computer, because it affects my vision.
So, we've now completely reached our limit and it looks as though we are going to have to ask everyone to set up alternative ways of attaching their images to posts after all. Later this week Snowlynx is going to look into the best ways of doing this, (for me Flickr works the best, especially since Photobucket looks as though they might start charging a fee now) although I know there are others- I think there's some way of using Google to host photos?
We will make a sticky in the Technical forum, with information on the various ways it can be done.
More and more forums these days are having to do this, since the sites that host the forums are quite restricted as to space, (two others I belong to don't allow and direct attachments at all.) I know it's a bit of a nuisance, but I hope you do decide to continue to stay with us!

I don't think google images has the ability to share images via BBcode as yet, at least not the last time I looked. ian

Hi jowhitwell, seems that photobucket is going to charge folks nowadays so a flickr account would be the way to go. If you check out my post on the technical issues page I asked the same question rowanberry and NellyDee helped sort me out. flickr is dead easy to use and a little fettling will see you right. Look forward to seeing some of your photos ian.

Hello jowhitwell, and welcome to Wabi!
I'm not familiar with Wildlifebytes, it must be a new one... I'll have to take a look at that.
We don't have the ability to have galleries in this forum- it's something I wish we could offer, but our forum host doesn't have it as an option.
When we set up Wabi several years ago, it was to act as a temporary stop-gap for members of Wild About Britain after that forum was hacked and went down. It took a long time to get WaB back up and running, and quite a few of our members decided they liked it here and so we've kept it going, even after WaB reappeared.
Since this forum was only meant to be short-term, we thought Pro-Boards was the best forum hosting available at the time, going on reviews and how easy it was to use, (we were novices at this sort of thing, and had never attempted to set up anything like this before!) So we've been making do with very limited image storage space ever since then- I don't know how Wildlifebytes are set up, but their hosting site must have a way to offer a much larger capacity for image attachments.
It can take some getting used to, using Flickr- but at least that way if the forum goes down your images are safe in your own private Flickr account, (when WaB vanished I lost SO many photos! I learned a hard lesson about backing things up from that.)
I hope you decide to stick around with us, as well as Wildlifebytes... we are a friendly bunch here at Wabi!
