For all of you fortunate enough to live up that way, the 2015 Bird Fair is being held at the Rutland Water Nature Reserve, Egleton, Rutland on the 21st to the 23rd of August. www.birdfair.org.uk/The Rutland Reserve itself looks fantastic- over 30 hides! You'd have to have a fair amount of stamina to get around the lagoon AND still trek around the stalls and lectures available at the Fair.

Can be expensive if you fall in love some kit!
Mind blowingly large too and I always bumped into one or two WABBERS. Clashes with other things usually for me, so I can't go on an annual pilgrimage.

Rutland Water is excellent. If you get fair weather a good way of getting around is by bicycle. It is about 25 miles and the vast majority of the route is on very quiet tracks. There is a little on roads but the roads are pretty quiet.
There is a good bike hire place on the north shore.

Very good! My first time with the aim of buying my first scope (the one I had was a pass-me-down which got me by). Bought the scope and had a great time.
Far too dangerous to go again though, so many books to buy!
