A couple of oldies I saw over the last few days.
'Singin' in the Rain'. This has been a favourite of mine for many years but I had forgotten just how superb it is; a good story line with great songs and wonderful dancing.
'Oliver'. I have to declare a problem I have with musicals. I know they are an artistic interpretation of a story but I have difficultly with people suddenly bursting into song. However, for the first time I watched all of Oliver and it was great, but perhaps that was because of the performance of Ron Moody.

I also get annoyed with people bursting into song at any given moment, (gave up on 'LaLa Land fifteen minutes in, because I couldn't take it anymore.) The two musicals that I do like, because the music is so enjoyable are Fiddler on the Roof and My Fair Lady. It might be because they have fond associations, (I remember my Mum having the LPs of the songs and playing them...LPs!) but I've always loved Audrey Hepburn in that film. And Rocky Horror! Memories of a mis-spent youth there... haven't seen that one in years, but could watch it again easily. Ahhh... The Time Warp. Mum did not have the LP for that one.

I take your point some are like that but I do like Oliver, Fiddler on the roof and Carousal, which is excellent in fact seen the last two a few times now, amateur productions are also well worth seeing. If I loved you and you’ll never walk alone are the featured songs in Carousal. Alan

Over Xmas break watched Walt Disney's new versions of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Alice in Wonderland, Combination of humans and animations. Thought they were great and the graphics were amazing. Well worth watching. I have got all the original versions on DVD (got when daughter was a youngster), but I am going to get these new versions for future viewing.

Dunkirk
Very poor in fact the soundtrack was so ' ear splitting loud,' correction ‘persistent noise’ it ruined the content (what little there was,) in contrast to the original 1958 film starring John Mill which is excellent. Example of 2017 film / soundtrack

Jeepers creepers 3 not really my bag this one but it was a Christmas present, nevertheless son no 3 insisted I should be frightened at least once a day, but as it turned out I thought it was more of a comedy, well I did say I had a unusual sense of humour.

Land of the lost Will Ferrell I was told this one is so bad it is good, although I would not go as far as to say that, but rather more than a bit silly. Nevertheless I will give it 3 out of 10... www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiCDnG_AdmA

Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri..decent movie with fantastic performances by Frances Mcdormand and Sam Rockwell. I hope Frances Mcdormand scoops the oscar for best female this year.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Really enjoyed this one, of course it does have its really silly moments the Mary Poppins moment being just one, but hey star wars is only meant for children or so they say. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0CbN8sfihYNext on the viewing list Wonder Women or anything can happen in the next half hour.

Wonder women Seen this now with the help from son number two and his little magic box of tricks, well worth seeing too which I must admit was a ‘big surprise’ given the very poor 70s television series (see film clip... Alan www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSB4wGIdDwo
