It's so rare to see the Perseids here in Derbyshire - it's usually the cloud that prevents it but I will be out watching

I went out around 12:30am on Friday and after about 15mins I had seen one very bright and quite long lasting meteor. I went back inside for about half an hour (in that time Persues would have become more visible) and it clouded over.
My count for Perseids is therefore, after many years, one!

I went out and I did see a few stars looking south but there was about 95% cloud cover as usual so no Perseids for me. I will have another look tonight but the forecast is the same - cloud.

Not seen anything in the sky but cloud in recent weeks and not hopeful of seeing in the near future.

Not seen anything in the sky but cloud in recent weeks and not hopeful of seeing in the near future. Same here, virtually full cloud cover again last night but in August it's rare to have clear skies here so I wasn't expecting to see anything - and I didn't.

I'll be out if it's clear, over the years I've been quite lucky with meteor sightings and seen some quite spectacular ones. The very best has to have been some 40 years ago 'oh my' when I was in the TA I can't remember the month but it was autumn / winter time cold and clear. We were out on an escape and evasion exercise and in the early hours I began to see blurry flashes I thought wake up boy there's a couple of hours left till we get back to camp. It was soon obvious that the flashes were meteors and getting brighter. When one came over so bright all in our squad hit the floor thinking that we'd been spotted and someone had set a flare of over us it really was that bright, as clear as day just for a second or two. There were a few more really bright one's and lot of others too and I swear blind that you could hear them swishing past overhead and with the crackling of the power lines it truly was a memorable night. Also we were the only squad to complete the exercise without being captured, downside was by the time we got back to camp all the breakfasts had gone just a few rounds of toast and plenty of tea, that's army catering for you

Daughter and I togged up + blankets - light drizzle rain but the sky was clear in places, got seriously stiff neck looking upwards from 10:45 - 12:30. We saw 5 spaced out about 5 minute intervals during this time - did see some very faint short glows behind the thinner cloud, but were not sure it was not just our eyes playing tricks with staring at too many stars (where they could be seen that is). Around 1980 Hubby, Me Daughter and Daughter's friend were driving up to Scotland overnight and were treated to 'shooting stars' wow! what a display something never forgotten - was so hoping to see it again.
