The newts are still about, (do they leave the pond at some point, or stay in it year round sometimes?)
I saw the larger russet coloured one yesterday, and the small dark one this morning.

people say the newts leave the ponds, but I'm sure some of mine stay all year around. Some overwinter as efts too. Watch and learn - I expect each population will have their own preferences

Some frogs still hanging about in the pond, but it looks like we are going to be without tadpoles this year... unless one of them spawns late, although I don't think that's likely. There have been years were there hasn't been so many, but to have none at all is sad. I always enjoy watching the little tads growing up.

I was watering some pots near my front door at 4.30 this morning when an indignant Common Frog leapt from a pot + almost landed on my foot + stayed for about a minute.

What a fantastic sight- I've never seen a snake that size in the wild in this country, (I have seen a black snake in America, many years ago.)
Yours would certainly give my frogs something to worry about!

More great shots here. That second froglet is a good un and really good to see a photo of a grass snake.

This frog, crossing the path this morning on its way back to the pond. Is he a little thin for this time of the year? I thought they'd be fattening up to get ready for the winter by now, (and there are certainly enough slugs around for them to be well-fed!) Frog July21 2017 by Wabi Gallery, on Flickr
